Description

The design of the 1:50 000 Map Series provides clear and accurate portrayal of topographic information, with symbols and map content giving enhanced depiction of buildings, hill shading and a simplified classification of vegetation.

This map features a number of the attractions on Tasmania’s West Coast. The southern portion covers the fishing village of Strahan while towards the north lays the rugged and off grid village of Trial Harbour. The well-known Ocean Beach, exposed to the Roaring Forties, consists of large sand dunes and regularly attracts top surfers, four-wheel drivers and other beach users. The inland portion consists of hilly terrain with pockets of temperate rainforest, a variety of mines and timber plantations.
